For the In Good Shape exhibition, David Rimmer has created a series of surreal and psychedelic vignettes loosely based on the Dark Materials books of Philip Pullman. Here he presents us with parallel universes and strange cities populated with even stranger creatures. Painted in acrylic and Indian ink in kaleidoscopic detail, his facets of colour have a luminous quality akin to stained glass panes.

Based in Whanganui, David Rimmer is a former Barrister who has been painting for the past 13 years. His art practice is spontaneous and intuitive with subject matter that tends toward the fantastic.
