Gillian Buckley, In Good Shape

Gillian Buckley works in graphite and charcoal to render exquisitely detailed, intimate portraits of people and animals. Buckley’s pieces for the In Good Shape exhibition juxtapose human subjects with butterflies and moths. We consider contrasts between the diurnal and the nocturnal, and between conspicuous and subtler beauty. Details are picked out with accents of gold foil.

Largely self-taught, Gillian Buckley has been exhibiting since 2012 and has work held in private collections throughout NZ and internationally. She works from her home studio in Doubtless Bay, Northland.
