Gillian Buckley, Blue Moon

Gillian Buckley works almost exclusively in graphite and charcoal to render finely detailed portraits of people and animals. These are often fragmentary or unconventionally cropped and Buckley’s Blue Moon pieces for the Point Blank exhibition are no exception. Additionally, these works are veiled in a wash of silver powder, giving them a nostalgic, dream-like haziness.

Largely self-taught, Gillian Buckley has been exhibiting since 2012 and has work held in private collections throughout NZ and internationally. She works from her home studio in Doubtless Bay, Northland.
